MASTERS OF SCIENCE IN ORTHODONTICS
     

Nicolas & Asp College Of Postgraduate Dentistry, and the Malmِ University Dental School, Department of Orthodontics offer a three-year MASTERS OF SCIENCE IN ORTHODONTICS accredited by the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Higher Education and a SPECIALIST CERTIFICATE IN ORTHODONTICS from Malmِ University, Sweden.

This program is a three-year full-time program for the recognition of a specialist license in orthodontics. The aim of the program is to offer residents specialist training with a broad and academic foundation. The education provides skills and knowledge for diagnosis and care of children, adolescents and adults with an orthodontic treatment need. The education particularly emphasizes health ethics, pedagogic and leadership.

The Nicolas and Asp Postgraduate Institute FZ LLC, is located at Dubai Healthcare City in the heart of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

* Applicants are encouraged to submit applications before June 15th in order to secure a position in the program. Applications received after this date will be subject to available positions.

The following requirements are needed to be considered for admittance to the program:


  • Successful Completion of an accredited Dental School.
  • A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0*.
  • A minimum TOFEL English Exam score of 550# (or equivalent).
  • Proof of at least 2 years experience as a Genaral Dentist.
  • Evidence of Financial Support.
  • Proof of UAE visa eligibility.
  • 2 letters of recommendation.
  • Personal interview.

Admittance to the program will be based upon academic and supporting documents.

Our clinical program is organized based on a structured but self-directed learning environment. Our clinical program is based on modern technologies and current evidence-based treatment modalities. Second and third year students are organized in functional teams and are expected to work together in treatment planning and patient care. Senior students provide clinical mentoring for first and second year students with overall supervision by the academic staff.

The program especially emphasizes on:-

  • Patient selection to provide a diverse clinical experience appropriate to normal clinical practice.
  • Collection of an appropriate and complete data base on each patient to provide a strong foundation
  • for diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment consultation, treatment, and retention of the patient.
  • The use of a problem-oriented diagnostic and treatment planning strategies for all patients.
  • Utilization of craniofacial growth and development of knowledge in planning and carrying out
  • patient treatment.
  • Integration of relevant biological, clinical, and behavioral science into patient treatment.
  • Use of current biomechanical and biomaterial techniques and strategies in patient care.
  • Use of appropriate interdisciplinary consultation and care where appropriate.
  • Application of the principles of infection control and environmental safety to patient care and clinical operations.

Examination and Certification:

Examination of the students includes an individual demonstration and critical discussion of randomly selected cases with representatives from Malmِ University Faculty of Odontology (MUFO) and an oral presentation of additional 5 cases together with a presentation and defence of the research project.
