The Higher Diploma in Oral Implantology
     

Oral Implantology Program is a one year program. The program will follow a modular system; each module will run for 3 consecutive days each month. The Diploma program is ideal for the working dentist interested in practicing Oral Implantology. Successful graduates will receive a certificate accredited by the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The program aims to provide the student with sufficient education and training in diagnosis, treatment planning, provision and maintenance of implant-retained prosthesis in order to practice implant dentistry thereby expanding the range of dental treatment modalities in the restoration ad rehabilitation of patient oral health.

All students will practice under a Dubai Healthcare City Dental Trainee license processed through the Institute.

Admission requirements include:

  • successful completion of an accredited Dental School
  • A minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 (a lower GPA may be considered on a conditional basis.
  • The student must achieve a 3.0 GPA within the first semester in the program)
  • A minimum TOEFL or equivalent score of 550 (a lower score may be considered on a condition
  • basis. The student needs to achieve a 550 within the first semester in the program)
  • Curriculum vitae with 2 letters of recommendation

The Diploma program offers supervised advanced clinical implant training which especially emphasizes on:

  • Patient selection using state of the art diagnostic techniques.
  • Indications, contraindications, provision and maintenance of implant retained prostheses.
  • Diagnosing and treatment planning of multi-disciplinary restorative and rehabilitative treatments that include oral implants.
  • Fundamental implant placement techniques.
  • Prosthodontic restoration on oral implants.
  • Broad understanding of implant biomaterials.
  • Effective presentation of implant cases.

15 students will be admitted into the program with an intake every 2 months. The first intake will begin in December 2007. Admittance to the program will be based upon academic records and supporting documents. Applicants who meet the above requirements may be requested to attend a personal interview which may include an entrance examination to determine the final admission results.
