Graduates of the Masters Degree in Oral Implantology will be able to:
- Communicate diagnostic findings effectively in oral presentations and in writing.
- Demonstrate appropriate and high quality patient record taking.
- Relate oral conditions to implant size, shape and composition.
- Communicate treatment plans effectively in oral presentations and in writing.
- Reflect an understanding of different implant materials through the formulation of appropriate treatment planning.
- Successfully complete 10 implant supported units. One case (patient) should include one implant supported 3-unit (or greater) fixed bridge (at least 2 implant units), and one case should be an implant supported over denture (at least 2 implant units).
- Defend treatment planning options using oral implants for oral conditions that are influenced by the patients’ social or economic status and/or ethnic values or preferences.
- Apply knowledge obtained by critical analysis of oral implant literature and defend the application of this knowledge.
- Formulate, orally present and orally defend an implant research project.
- Submit a manuscript for publication in a refereed professional journal.
- Demonstrate life-long learning skills at graduation from the Mater degree in Oral Implantology Program and 1-year, 5-years and 10-years post graduation.
All students will practice under a Dubai Healthcare City Dental Trainee license processed through the Institute.
MASTERS DEGREE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
- Successful completion of an accredited Dental School
- A minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 (a lower GPA may be considered on a conditional basis. The student must achieve a 3.0 GPA within the first semester in the program)
- A minimum TOEFL or equivalent score of 550 (a lower score may be considered on a condition basis. The student needs to achieve a 550 within the first semester in the program)
- Curriculum vitae with 2 letters of recommendation
Clinical Requirements forthe Implantology Masters:
Thenumberofpatientstreatedbythestudentsshouldnotexceedthe equivalent of 10 implant units. Thesecasesshouldincludethe following:
- 1 fixed bridge at least 3 teeth and 2 implant units.
- 1 overdenture prosthesis (preferably a mandibular overdenture) at least 2 implant units.
- The remaining 6 implant units may be either single tooth or multiple crown restorations.
This will allow theexposureofthestudenttoseveralmultidisciplinarytreatment plans as well as differentsurgicalandprostheticaspectsoforal Implantology treatment.
